Internet Explorer tip: storing passwords
You want to use MOTOR, the "Mentioned on TV and Radio" database. But it's in that "Resources for SCLS Public Libraries Only," and you're being asked for a username and password. You dig out the memo with your library's username and password. You type them in, and then...
WAIT! Before you hit the "OK" button, click the little box next to, "Save this password in your password list". If you do this, you won't have to look up your username and password next time. That information will be stored, and you won't have to type it again (until the password changes!)

Google Tip : Define
Need a quick definition of a computer term, a medical term, an acronym or just about anything else?
Google can help! In this search box, just type "define:" followed by the word.
If you wanted a definition for rotfl, for example, you would type:
define:rotfl
...and you'd get a list of definitions (It's handy for these online abbreviations!!)
(Thanks to Beth Carpenter, Outagamie Waupaca Library System, for this tip.)
Security tip: "Benefits and Risks of Free Email"
We often help patrons create email accounts with services like Hotmail or Yahoo. But it's important to understand the risks associated with free email services.
To make life easier, the US CERT (don't know what CERT is? See the above tip!) has compiled a list of benefits and risks of free email. You can find it at
http://www.us-cert.gov/cas/tips/ST05-009.html
Word Tip: Increasing your last open documents list
At the bottom of the "File" menu of Word, you can see a list of documents that you last opened. By default, this is set to show the last 4 documents. But if you're like me, 4 is just not enough!
It's very easy to increase the number of documents in the list:
Wacky Website of the Month: A cornucopia of Wackiness
This month, I thought I'd share 3 quick, extremely wacky sites with you:
How to say "Oh my God! There's an axe in my head" in various languages
The title pretty much says it, but if you've always wanted to say it in Huttese, here's your chance!
(Thanks to Nichole Fromm, Madison PL, for this one)
Zombo.com
I can't explain zombocom. Just go visit, but be sure to have your sound on!

A sad tale about biscuits... (Requires Flash and sound)
(Thanks to Joshua Morrill for these last two!)
