Call to Order:
K. Michaelis, President, called the meeting to order at 12:15p.m. 

  1. Introduction of guests/visitors: Anne Pawlak was introduced as the newly appointed Portage County representative to the Board.
  2. Changes/additions to the agenda: None
  3. Requests to address the board:  None

Minutes:  P. Cox moved approval of the January 26, 2017 minutes.  J. Healy-Plotkin seconded.
Motion carried. 

Bills for Payments: 
K. Michaelis reviewed the bills for payment in the amount of $1,671,492.09 and moved approval.  A. Weier seconded.  Motion carried.

Presentation:  SCLS Finances:  State Aid – K. Goeden: 
The board was provided information that is available in the annual report which reflects the sources of SCLS funds for the various departments.

Committee Reports:

    1. 2017 Committee Assignments:  K. Michaelis thanked those who volunteered to serve on the various committees.  You may view the assignments here.
    1. Advocacy:  WI Library Legislative Day:  A. Weier noted it was a successful day.  187 library supporters attended.   F. Cherney, J. Healy-Plotkin and P. Cox attended from the board.  M. Furgal attended a listening session where the hot issue was broadband. Several SCLS staff members attended as well.


Action Items:

  1. Approval of Annual System Report:  M. Furgal moved approval of the Annual System Report.  R. Owens seconded.  Motion carried.

SCLS Foundation Report:  Met 1/26/2017 and discussed the new tiered administrative fees, the Cornerstone event, and election of officers. 

System Director's Report:  Every member library currently has a director.  Ryan Claringbole has been hired as the director at the Monona Public Library.  The Arrowhead Library System will review the demonstrations from the four candidates that were interviewed regarding the ILS merger and will provide a decision in March.
A question was raised about the use and cost of WISCAT versus OCLC.  Many libraries are leaving OCLC and going to WISCAT.  SCLS met with the Madison Public Library Interlibrary Loan team to discuss the use and cost of WISCAT for 2018.

Information Sharing: There is a bedbug webinar occurring that will feature a bug professor and a pest control professional.
